Once upon a time I would wander around the beautiful grounds of Marlay Park in Rathfarnham, sketchbook in tow, and spend hours painting the sights all around me. I wrote about it in one of my previous Sketching in The Walled Garden a couple of years ago. Little did I know then that the Courtyard at Marlay Park would become the location of my new studio and gallery.
It is the most beautiful of rooms which is flooded with natural light. I am in my element!
The room used to be the home of the Stained Glass Artist, Evie Hone, who worked in Marlay house for many years right up until she died in 1951. I can't be sure, but think I feel her spirit there while I am painting. It has certainly breathed new life into this very tired artist, and I've felt a new zest for my work. I'd been in a huge creative block for the past couple of years as I struggled to get my work seen at the People's Park Market in Dun Laoghaire on Sudays. It was all go, setting up on the railings, talking with the public and introducing my new line of giclée prints. The sales side of business was never my strong point and exhausted me! But here the atmosphere is so serene that I feel I can get into the zone and paint until I can hardly lift another brush!

My studio is also a gallery with original work and giclée prints on display. I also sell greetings cards, and small unframed works which you won't find on the website.
I'm open on fridays 12 to 3pm
Other times by appointment please contact me and we can arrange a time to meet.
DIRECTIONS: When you enter the courtyard from the market, follow the signs up To the Top of the stairs and turn left!
See you there!
