A Brief Biography
Kate Bedell is an accomplished artist who works primarily in watercolour. Born in Dublin, Kate graduated from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design with a distinction in Fine Art and has been evolving her craft for 40 years.
She has exhibited in the R.H.A. Annual Show and the Mall Galleries, London. In 1999 she appeared twice on the Channel 4 Programme, “Watercolour Challenge”.
She taught watercolour painting to adult classes in Dublin before moving to India with her family in 2000 for 7 years. There she painted a series of exhibitions of Indian Women and held several solo shows, as well as teaching in two international schools at Primary level.
Kate Bedell is a member of the Watercolour Society of Ireland, and The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club, and is a frequent award-winner within these societies. She presently exhibits and works in the Marlay Craft Courtyard in Marlay Park, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
She has recently set up a studio in her beloved Connemara where she plans to work intimately with the landscape exploring new avenues of collage, textile art, encaustic and printmaking as well as her watercolour sketches.
